What happens if my annual license expires?

If you have purchased a lifetime license, your license can’t expire. Therefore, you can disregard this article as it does not apply to you.

If you have purchased an annual license but decide to cancel your subscription, your license will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle. After the billing cycle ends, your license will expire, and you will no longer have access to:

  • Updates
  • Bugfixes
  • Security updates
  • Support
  • Plugin activations
  • Your Wombat account & downloads.

Can I continue to use the plugin after my license expires?

You can continue to use the plugin on websites where it was already installed and activated before the license expired. However, there are a few important limitations to keep in mind:

  • You will no longer receive updates, bugfixes, or security updates. Over time, your version will become outdated. As WordPress and WooCommerce continue to change, we cannot guarantee that an outdated version of the plugin will continue to work properly. For plugins like Advanced Product Fields, which integrate with many areas of WooCommerce, we do not recommend letting your license expire.
  • You may no longer be able to create new configurations or edit existing ones. In other words, some plugin settings may no longer be adjustable without an active license.
  • You must keep the plugin installed and activated on the site. If you remove the plugin or deactivate the license, you will not be able to activate it again without an active license.
  • You will not be able to activate the license on new websites.
  • You will no longer have access to your Wombat account or downloads. This means you should keep your own copy of the plugin if you decide not to renew.

Why can’t I download or activate the plugin after my license expires?

Downloads, updates, support, and plugin activations are ongoing services that rely on our account system, licensing system, update servers, and support infrastructure. These services create ongoing costs for us.

When an annual license expires, those services end as well.

If you want ongoing access without yearly renewals, we recommend purchasing a lifetime license.
