Advanced Product Fields 2.5 released

APF version 2.5 released

We’ve worked hard to release Advanced Product Fields for WooCommerce version 2.5. This blog post is dedicated to explaining new and improved features.

Let’s dive in!

Improved the admin user interface

This release includes several new and enhanced features for the admin screens of Advanced Product Fields. One such improvement is the overall user interface. Our plugin has quite a lot of moving parts, so it is crucial you can see all settings and information without being overwhelmed. Here’s a list of what we did:

New input fields design

We redesigned the field settings to be easier on the eyes by adding a lighter border and giving everything a bit more space. This helps with readability if there are a lot of input fields on the screen.

Import options in bulk

Import field options in bulk

We’ve included a feature that allows you to import field options in bulk. This means you can now easily create a select list of countries or other options, without having to manually input each one as was required before version 2.5.

This tool is available for these field types: select list, checkboxes, radio buttons, text swatches, and color swatches.

Formula builder

APF formula builder

We understand that creating pricing formulas can be tedious and complex. To make it easier for you, we’ve developed a formula builder tool that helps you create formulas in a more visual and intuitive way. It also has the ability to detect and report (some) errors in the formula syntax.

Functions reference

To further enhance the formula building experience, we’ve added a functions glossary within the plugin. This allows you to easily reference and understand the various functions available while building your formula. The glossary also includes examples and documentation.

Links to the documentation

We added helpful links to the documentation where appropriate to make it easier for you to find the information you need.

Easily copy the field ID

This is a small change, but surely one that will make many users happy. You can now copy the field ID to your clipboard by clicking on it. This is handy if you are using formula-based pricing or variables which include a lot of field ID’s.

A new field type: calculation

Example of the calculation field

We’ve put in a lot of effort to improve the user experience on the admin side of the plugin, but that’s not all. We’ve also added other new features, like a new field type: the calculation field (only available in the Extended version). This field allows you to show calculations on the screen or modify the final price of the product.

The example image above shows 2 calculation fields: one informational calculation to display the calculated square feet to the user. A second calculation field is calculating the final product price, based on the unit price per square inch.

Other improvements and bugfixes

We included some smaller improvements and bugfixes. You can find the details in the changelog.
