All discount types

This article lists all the different discount types you can create with WooCommerce Discounts. To create a new discount, go to Marketing → Discounts in your WordPress dashboard.

Create a discount with WooCommerce Discounts: select a discount type

1. Flat discount

This is the simplest form of discounts and allows you to apply a percentage or fixed amount discount to products.

Examples

  • Apply a sitewide discount of 20% for Black Friday.
  • $5 off all T-shirts.
  • 15% of all pants.

2. Free Product(s)

Offer free items when customers meet certain purchase requirements. You can gift matching products for free or totally different ones.

Examples

  • Buy One, Get One Free (BOGOF).
  • Buy a Laptop, get a Mouse free.
  • Get free sample(s).
  • Buy 3 for the price of 2.
  • Ge a free desert with every meal.

3. Buy X at a Fixed Price

Let customers purchase a specific quantity of products for a fixed total price. This discount can also repeat recursively.

Examples

  • Buy 3 T-shirts for $25.
  • Any 4 products in store for $100.

4. Buy X Get Y Discounted

Buy a specified quantity of products, and receive matching or other products at a discount.

Based on the contents of the cart, you can encourage upsells by discounting additional or different products. This is the most complex discount type of WooCommerce Discounts but it has many use-cases.

Examples

  • Buy 2, get a 3rd at 50% off.
  • Buy 3, get $2 off per item.
  • Buy a Laptop, get a mouse + keyboard at $20 off.
  • Buy 3 t-shirts and get 10% off on pants.
  • Buy any 2 from category and get 10% off.
  • Buy a meal, get a discount on drinks.
  • If you buy any 5 items from the store, all other items come with a 10% discount.

5. Quantity Discounts (Bulk Discounts)

Set up tiered discounts based on the quantity purchased. The higher the quantity, the higher the discount offered per item (or on the whole bundle).

Examples

  • Buy 2+ items, get 10% off, buy 3+ items, get 15% off, buy 5+ items, get 20% off.
  • Buy 1-3 at normal price, 3+ at $10 off each.
  • Buy up to 100 screws at $1 each. Buy up to 200 screws at $0.80 each. Buy up to 500 screws at $0.5 each.

6. Shipping Discount

Offer free shipping when certain conditions are met.

Examples

  • Free shipping for any order above $50.
  • Free shipping for any order if at least 4 products are ordered.
  • Only products above $100 offer free shipping.
